REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURE

Removable partial dentures are the traditional option followed for replacing several missing teeth. Replacement teeth attached to a base that matches your gum color are its components. A traditional removable partial denture consists of wire components for retention. Due to its disadvantage like abrasion of the adjacent teeth & sometimes loosing, and esthetic concern due to the appearance of wire component, they are replaced by flexible dentures and acetal denture, that are completely metal free & has better esthetic than the conventional RPDS.

FIXED DENTAL BRIDGES

Fixed partial denture replaces missing teeth and are permanently attached to adjacent teeth or implant for support. This option is more effective if one or more teeth are missing in the same area. These prosthesis are bonded in place using dental cements.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

When a gap is left by a missing tooth, the surrounding teeth have a tendency to shift because that tooth is no longer helping to keep everything in line. Ultimately, teeth may become crooked or new gaps may appear between teeth. Another issue that may occur is supra-eruption.

Missing teeth could also increase your risk of an oral infection, which could spread to the rest of your body and cause more serious issues. When you lose a tooth you also are leaving an exposed area of gum tissue open. This tissue could become infected through simple actions like chewing food.

Single tooth dentures are dentures that are made to replace just one missing tooth. Dentists will typically use partial dentures or over dentures to replace a single tooth. Again, full dentures are not necessary in this case. Sometimes people will get temporary single tooth dentures called flippers.

A bridge is generally less expensive than an implant when you look at the up-front costs. As with any major procedure, find out what your dental plan covers – many plans will pay for a bridge but not an implant.

A dental bridge can be used to replace anywhere from one to four teeth, depending on the patient’s needs. However, it is most common that one to two teeth will be replaced. In some rare cases, a bridge can replace more teeth than four; however, there are a few factors that play into it.

A flipper tooth is a removable retainer that fits along the roof of your mouth (palate) or sits on your lower jaw, and has one or more prosthetic teeth attached to it. When you put it in your mouth, it creates the appearance of a full smile, even if you’ve lost teeth due to injury, removal, or decay.

As you can imagine, if you’re missing molars, it’s much more difficult to chew foods. Vegetables, fruits, and other crunchy or tough foods may be difficult to chew. This is why replacement options are so important in these cases.

When a gap is left by a missing tooth, the surrounding teeth have a tendency to shift causing malalignment of teeth, which collects bacteria and leads to chronic bad breath. It can become difficult to clean behind and around the surrounding teeth, which can increase the risk of gum disease.

Missing teeth can lead to malalignment causing Gum disease and severe infections in the mouth which can spread to other parts of the body faster than people realize. Oral health is directly related to the overall body health.

Dental crowns are an excellent option for replacing one or more lost teeth, especially when combined with dental implants. Traditionally, tooth replacement techniques involve placing crowns on a single damaged tooth or using a dental bridge to replace multiple lost teeth.
